DESCRIPTION:Pottery Wheel Throwing Class \nFour Part Class  \n1) Oct. 1st\, throw a cylinder 6 to 8pm\, \n2) Oct 8th\, throw a bowl/plate 6 to 8pm \n3) Oct 15th\, trimming decorating/sgraffito 6 to 8pm \n4) Oct 29th\, glazing 6 to 8pm \nCost: $240.00 per person – includes materials and firings for up to 6 items \nage from 12 years minimum \nInstructor: Ruth Langwieser \nIn this four-lesson unit\, you will go though the basics of wheel throwing and gain hands-on experience with the complete process of creating a ceramic piece on the potter’s wheel. \nIn the first lesson\, you will be introduced to the pottery wheel and learn important safety procedures. You will prepare your clay\, and go through the nitty gritty of the 7 basic movements to throw a cylinder. You will be provided with a hand out with the description of the movements to remember. \nIn the second lesson\, you will continue practice throwing a more open shape like a bowl or a snack dish \nin the third lesson\, after your pieces have dried to the leather-hard stage\, you will learn how to trim the base using the pottery wheel. You will also decorate the surfaces using the sgraffito technique (carving) to create texture. \nIn the fourth lesson\, once your work has been bisque fired\, you will explore glazing techniques like dipping\, pouring\, and brush application. \n\nLearn safe and effective use of the pottery wheel.\nPrepare the clay\, and learn the seven basic movements of wheel throwing.\nTrim the leather-hard pieces to create a finished foot and refined shape.\nExplore the sgraffito technique to decorate ceramic surfaces.\nApply glaze using dipping\, pouring\, and brush techniques.\n\nPOLICIES: \n\nRefund: If you are unable to attend class for any reason\, please notify the Arts Council via text at 306-634-3942. Starting with a basic paper-lantern shape\, you will decorate and transform it with seasonal elements. \nChose your own style: \nThanksgiving inspired: incorporate colourful autumn leaves and paint it with warm seasonal colours \nHalloween inspired: create a spooky lantern by adding black silhouettes\, bats\, ghosts\, or design other personal Halloween shapes. \nLet your activity shine and take home a unique lantern to brighten up your autumn evenings! \nPOLICIES: \nRefund: If you are unable to attend class for any reason\, please notify the Arts Council via text at 306-634-3942. DESCRIPTION:Medium: fabric\, buttons sewing \nDate: October 27th 4-6pm \nCost: $40.00 per person – includes materials \nage from 12 years minimum \nInstructor: Ruth Langwieser \nIn this two hour activity\, you will create a black soft sculpture cat. \nStarting with the front half of the pattern\, you will embroider its piercing eyes\, ears\, and other imaginative details to give it a unique personality. Once the details are complete\, you will sew the two halves together and fill your cat with soft stuffing that gives it a three dimensional shape.
